Tongji’s Third Steering Committee Meeting of Sino-German University (CDH) Held

The third steering committee meeting of Sino-German University at Tongji University (CDH) was held in Tongji on the afternoon of October 18th. Members of the steering committee attended the meeting, who were from Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Scholarship Council, National Natural Science Foundation of China, German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Research, German Research Association, German Academic Exchange Centre, Technical University of Munich, Germany Esslingen Applied Science and Technology University, as well as the Fiss Completed Group and the Bosch Group. The meeting was co-chaired by President Pei Gang, chairman of CDH’s steering committee, and Prof. Bode, vice chairman of CDH’s steering committee and former secretary general of German Academic Exchange Centre.

Representatives from two sides summed up the general framework of bilateral political, economic, educational and scientific ties, listened to CDH and its afflicted institutions like CDHK, CDHAW and CDIBB for their work report and next year ‘s work plan, especially the progress of “80+80 Double Master” program, Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Technology, overall laboratory planning scheme in the CDH, German Research Centre (base), introduction of liberal arts’ cooperation plan with Germany as well as the situation of Sino-German’s cooperation with corporations in the field of mechanical and electronic engineering. Representatives expressed their satisfaction for the achievement, and gave suggestion as to the overall planning and future development of the CDH. They agreed that the CDH would actively cooperate with our country’s “Collaborative Innovation” policy and the implementation of our school’s “Sustainable Development University” and “Outstanding Talent Plan”. They will also finish the removal work of the CDHK and CDIBB, set up the Sino-German Experiment Center. Besides, they will play more platform role in promoting the construction of foreign courses, the “4+M+3” double degree program, scientific and research cooperation program with German universities, corporations and scientific research institutions. The first-class international talents, scientific research groups, and more German students will be introduced. They also agreed to integrate liberal arts’ cooperation with Germany.
