On the morning of Sep.20, vice-president Dong Qi met with the Germany ex-interior secretary Gerhardt Baum and his wife at Sino-German College.

During their talks, Dong Qi gave a brief of Tongji University and recent progresses in the international projects, and highlighted the cooperation areas with Germany which were led by Sino-German College (CDH). Baum appreciated the degree of internationalization of Tongji University, and kept abreast of some specific circumstances such as admission, employment, the proportion of male and female students, and etc.

In addition, the two sides also friendly and actively discussed about the construction and development trends of higher education in both China and Germany.

Gerhardt Baum was born in Dresden, Germany in 1932, joined the Germany Liberal Democratic Party in 1954, and served as the Federal Minster of the Interior in the government headed by Helmut Kohl from 1978 to 1982.

The participants of the meeting were from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Sino-German College, and School of Foreign Language of Tongji University.
