Invited by Georgian Ministry of Environment Protection and United Nations Environment Programme, between September 6th and 7th , Prof. Wu Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University and Dean of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, participated in “Tbilisi+35: the intergovernmental environmental education meeting on sustainable development” which was held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The meeting was jointly organized by Georgian Ministry of Environment Protection, United Nations Environment Programme and United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. 103 nations and more than 400 people who are officials, scholars and NGO representatives in the field of environmental protection and environmental education attended this meeting.

As president of Global University Partnership on Environment and Sustainability(GUPES), Prof. Wu Jiang participated in the expert group meeting which was held on 4th and 5th , discussed and modified the core document of meeting, Tbilisi Declaration: education moment, accomplish the future of sustainable development, with a dozen experts in the field of education for sustainable development. Meanwhile, Prof. Wu shared the idea and practice, about the process of constructing the university for sustainablility in Tongji. Eventually, the Organizing Committee presented the declaration to attendees to discuss and adopt.
