14th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar held at Tongji

On June 5, the opening ceremony of the 14th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR2012) was held at Tongji University. Tongji Vice President Chen Yiyi, GPR2012 Excecutive Chair Raffaele Persico and Honorary Chair Li Yongsheng attended the opening ceremony.

The GPR International Advisory Committee has a major commitment for sustainable development of environmentally friendly society. The Committee has been consolidating technical information and sharing technical knowledge and experience in novel GPR systems and antennas, numerical modeling, data processing and interpretation, and applications in agriculture, archaeology, sedimentology, hydrology, concrete/pavements, geology/geotechnical engineering, diagnostic of historical buildings, glaciology, mining and tunneling, utilities detection and mapping, planetary exploration, demining and UXO, etc.

GPR2012 was hosted by Tongji Department of Geotechnical Engineering and the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences. 200 representatives, among whom 60 were international attendants, participated in the 4-day conference.
