On May 24th, Prof. Pei Gang met Mr. Robert Griffiths, U.S. Consul General Shanghai, and Mr. Dale Largent, Public Affairs Section Chief of U.S. Consulate General Shanghai at Tongji.

Prof. Pei Gang warmly welcomed the visit of Mr. Griffiths and his colleagues, and shared with the visitors about the latest developments of the collaboration between Tongji and its US partners. Mr. Griffiths congratulated Tongji's 105th anniversary and 100th birthday of engineering education. He spoke highly of what Tongji has achieved, and wished to work more closely with Tongji via programs such as Fulbright. Prof. Li Zhenyu, Director of the International Office, and Prof. Xia Liping, Dean of the School of Political Science and International Relations were present at the meeting.

As part of the US day in the 2012 International Cooperation Week, Mr. Griffiths gave a presentation on the influence of American values on U.S. foreign policy afterwards, and interacted with Tongji students answering questions on Sino-U.S. relations, technological innovation, intellctual property, etc.
