On the morning of May 19th, Dr. Corrado Clini, the Minister of Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea led a delegation to visit Tongji University on the occasion of Tongji’s 105th Anniversary and its Centennial of Engineering Education.

On that morning Minister Clini and President Pei Gang firstly had a talk and they reached a consensus on Sino-Italian Sustainable Development. President Pei Gang pointed out that the preparation for the establishment of Sino-Italian Center for Sustainability is significant for China’s urban development. Both countries shall integrate scientific research with sustainable development by insisting on human being oriented. Afterwards, both sides signed an agreement named Framework Agreement for the Establishment of a Sino-Italian Center for Sustainability (SICES). President Pei Gang officially granted Dr. Corrado Clini as the Honorary Professor of Tongji University and awarded the certificate and badge to him. After the ceremony, Minister Clini lectured on “Moving towards a Green Economy: Challenges and Opportunities for International Cooperation on Science & Innovation” for students from Sino-Italian Campus.
