On February 15th, President Pei Gang and Chancellor Daniel Woolf signed the MOU on behalf of Tongji University and Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada respectively. The Queen’s University delegation consisting of Vice President for Research, John Dixon and Vice President for International Cooperation, Steven Liss among other officials had a fruitful conversation with its Tongji counterpart including Vice President Dong Qi, officials from the Science & Technology Office, and professors from the School of Medicine, the School of Political Science and International Relations, the College of Civil Engineering, the School of Economic Management, and the Law School.

Chancellor Woolf expressed the opinion that Tongji is a sound partner, and President Pei proposed the overall framework of cooperation. There will be three clusters formed around the School of Medicine, the engineering field with the participation of the College of Civil Engineering and the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the field of social sciences in which the School of Political Science and International Relations, the Law School, and the School of Economic Management take part. Chancellor Woolf agreed with the proposal. President Pei invited the Queen’s University to participate in the 2012 World Student Forum on Environment and Sustainability to be held this June, and Chancellor Woolf accepted the invitation. The delegation’s visit concluded with a tour of the Sino-Finnish Center.
