On February 2, the 2012 winter Chinese Culture Camp for Taiwan students started in Tongji University, with over 180 students from Shih Hsin University and Chinese Culture University. Dong Qi, Vice President of Tongji University, attended the welcome ceremony and introduced the development of Tongji University.
During the winter camp, Tongji professors gave lectures on “Shanghai urban planning and construction”, “overview of mainland China’s economic development”, and the planning of Shanghai Expo site. Tongji also organized sightseeing visits in Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou, to help Taiwan students gain more insight into Chinese history and culture, and to understand the social and economic development of mainland China.
The winter camp was commissioned by the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits. During 2012 winter vacation, Tongji University received 5 groups of Taiwan students, and each group stayed for 10 days. More than 400 students coming from various Taiwan universities participated in the Chinese Culture Camp.
