On Nov. 29th, Assistant President Wu Guangming signed a new five-year MOU of strategic cooperation with Marko Heikkinen, Director of the Finish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes) in Finland government meeting room. Mr. Wang Gang, Minister of Science and Technology and Mr. Huang Xing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Finland witnessed the signing ceremony.

The MOU was drawn up and verified jointly by Tongji and Tekes to underpin innovation and sustainability as well as to strengthen and further cooperation. It will focus on the following three aspects of cooperation. Firstly, research and application in city planning, construction of sustainable cities and designing. Secondly, the research and application in industrial design, communications, electric automobile and mechanical manufacture. Thirdly, the research and application of sustainable economy and management in international laws, intellectual property, economic and environmental policies. Both sides encouraged overseas post-doctoral project, scholar exchange project as well as Horizon 2020 Initiative which is taking off in 2014.

During his stay in Finland, Wu Guangming visited our strategic partner Alto University and met with Martti Raevaara, Vice President (Teaching, Personnel and Infrastructure) as well as directors in the fields including interdisciplinary courses of design and innovation and sustainability study. Both sides exchanged ideas on the collaboration especially in research, course delivery and talent training under the above-mentioned sino-finish cooperation framework.
