On Nov. 18th, on the academic annual conference of Bochum University, Mr. Weiler, President of Bochum U conferred President Pei Gang Pro Societate Award to celebrate the cooperative partnership between the two universities since 1980. President Weiler looked back on the history of cooperation between two universities and gave a general introduction to the ongoing cooperation in the fields of Germany language, mechanical manufacture, economics, landscape geography and life sciences. In his speech, he said that the tie between Tongji and Bochum plays a significant role in the development of Bochum U because the university was in the fledging stage since the cooperation started. He cherished the partnership between two universities and will make best efforts to further cooperation. President Pei Gang replied to the speech that he was honored to receive the award and the comprehensive collaboration between two universities was the result of accumulating efforts from generation to generation. He believed that joint efforts will lead our two universities to greater success.
Before the annual conference, President Pei Gang talked with President Weiler and highlighted the intention to strengthen and further cooperation. Two sides signed an MOU on joint training of double degree master students in the field of landscape geography and an MOU to coordinate 8 German universities to carry out joint training of double degree master students in the fields of mechanical engineering. Prof. Wu Zhihong, Deputy Dean of Sino-German College for Graduate Study, Prof. Cai Yongjie, Deputy Dean of Graduate School and Feng Yiping, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office were in the company of President Pei Gang during his visit to Bochum University.
