Dr. Alexander Stubb, Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland visits Tongji

On Oct.19, President Pei Gang and Vice President Wu Zhiqiang met Alexander Stubb, Minister for European Affairs and European Trade of Finland, Lan Tao, Ambassador of Finland to China and Matti Heimonen, Consul General of Finland to Shanghai.

Both sides suggested enhancing the impact of Sino-Finnish Centre in the strategic cooperation between Chinese and Finnish universities via enlarging the numbers of both student and faculty exchanges. In addition to that, both sides agreed to deepen the cooperation between Aalto University and Tongji University in the fields including sustainable community, sustainable innovation, inclusive development and pedagogical training.

After the meeting, Minister Alexander Stubb gave a speech entitled Will Europe Survive the Current Crisis in Tongji Master Forum. He analyzed the current European debt and euro crisis in a deep insight from four aspects: the reason of building European Union, the reason of crisis, how to survive the crisis and the future of Europe.

Minister Alexander Stubb and the delegation also visited the Sino-Finnish Centre and took a closer look at the work progress Sino-Finnish Centre has achieved in the previous year. In addition, several Finnish companies from the delegation including KONECRANES, Storaenso and RIVIO showed their interests in cooperating with Sino-Finnish Centre including sponsoring and proposing the PDP Course, providing the internship and doing workshops at Sino-Finnish Centre. Apart from that, ROVIO’s Angry Birds will have an office in the extension of ATDF of Sino-Finnish Centre.
