On the morning of 2nd July, Prof. Zhou Jialun, the chairman of University Council received Dr. Joan Clos, Deputy Secretary-General of United Nations and Executive Director of UN-HABITAT and his delegation. The delegation members include Shen Jianguo, inter-regional advisor of Regional Technical Cooperation Division, Bruno Decken, Asia-Pacific Affairs Officer, Aina Molainuo, Spokesman of UN-HABITAT and Zhang Zhenshan, China Habitat Project manager. Also present at the meeting were Li Zhenyu, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office and leaders of College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Prof. Zhou expressed his thanks to Dr. Clos for his visit and stressed that Tongji University would promote the cooperation with UN-HABITAT under the support of Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development. Dr. Clos expressed his thanks for the warm reception and appreciation of Tongji University’s academic strength in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning. He hoped UN-HABITAT could set up a training center in Tongji soon.

Dr. Clos had been a Mayor of Barcelona and Spanish Ambassador before. In 2010, he became Deputy Secretary-General of United Nations and Executive Director of UN-HABITAT.
