On the morning of June 1, Professor Zhou Jialun, Chairman of the University Council received Professor Wallace D. Loh, President of Maryland University in College Park, Prof. Saul Snowski, Assistant Vice Provost, Mr. Robert Daly, Director of Maryland China Initiative and Doc. Kai Duh, Director of Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute. The two sides had an in-depth talk on cooperation between the two universities and came up with some new ideas for it.

Chairman Zhou briefed president Loh and his delegation on the history, disciplines and internationalization of Tongji University. He said that a solid foundation has been laid for the cooperation between the two universities and that some cooperative programs have been or would be launched in economic management and teachers training. President Wallace D. Loh expressed his gratitude to chairman Zhou for his warm reception and hospitality. He stressed that he would enhance and strengthen cooperation with Tongji University in joint student programs, scientific research and integration of industry, university and research.

After the meeting, the Maryland delegation visited the College of Architecture and Urban Planning and Tongji Science Park.
