From 22th to 28th May, the second China-EU Engineering Education Seminar was held in Lisbon, Portugal, Vice President of Tongji University Chen Yiyi led a delegation to attend the seminar. During this period, the delegation visited IST in Lisbon and attended the Centennial celebration of IST; visited Chalmers University of Technology Sweden, Volvo Group and The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

During the visit to Chalmers and Volvo on May 26th, Tongji University, Chalmers University of Technology Sweden and Volvo Group agreed to establish the trilateral cooperation, launch the joint training for excellent engineers, Volvo internship and double degrees. Apart from urban planning, automobile and design fields indicated in the MOU to be signed, the cooperation will be extend to the engineering fields of mechanical, traffic, environment, energy, telecommunications and the computer. Volvo Group will make further discussions on industrial project for students and Volvo classroom/professorship.

On May 27th, Vice President Chen Yiyi gave a keynote speech “International Cooperation -- a cornerstone for engineering education” in the China-EU seminar “Responding to the Grand Challenges –Developing Academic Leadership” held by KTH.
