Dr. Gregory Geoffroy, the President of Iowa State University, together with the Dean of the College of Design and other two representatives, visited Tongji University on the afternoon of May 24th. Vice President Wu Jiang received the guests. People who also attended were Huang Yiru, the Vice Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Wang Yi, the Assistant Dean, Ling Jianping, the Vice Dean of the College of Mechanical Engineering, and Jianping GE, the professor from the School of Chemistry.

President Wu warmly welcomed the representatives. He briefly introduced the history and current status of the school, the preponderant disciplines and the international cooperation. The U.S. representatives expressed their will to carry out cooperation in the key disciplines departments, especially the College of Architecture and Urban Planning and other engineering departments. President Wu supported this idea. After heated discussion in the cooperation fields, both sides signed a MOU on the preliminary intention on cooperation.
