Prof. Sydney Leibovich from Cornell University visits Tongji

On April 22,President Pei Gang met with Dr. Sydney Leibovich, Samuel B. Eckert, Professor from Cornell University. Dr. Leibovich is an expert in fluid dynamics and aerospace engineering, a member of American Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Engineering, and National Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was a co-founder of Cornell’s Center for Sustainable Future. During the meeting, President Pei introduced the Green Campus practice of Tongji and discussed issues concerning sustainable development with Dr. Leibovich. Both sides explored the possibilities of cooperation between Tongji and Cornell in the fields of sustainable studies and life sciences. Assistant President Wu Zhiqiang and relative professors attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Dr. Sydney Leibovich lectured on “Promoting a Sustainable Future: What Can Universities do?” for nearly 200 students and faculties of Tongji University. Professor Wu Zhiqiang hosted the lecture, which is the 17th session of the Tongji Global Vision Lecture Series.

In the morning, Dr. Sydney Leibovich visited the Jiading Campus and observed the New Energy Automotive Laboratory and the Shanghai Automotive Wind Tunnel Center accompanied by Professor Yang Zhigang. During the working lunch, Dr. Leibovich met and discussed with faculties from a variety of fields including Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Media Studies, Energy Research, Marketing and Management.
