On April 22, President Pei Gang received Mr. Didier Burkhalter, member of the Swiss Federal Council and head of the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs, Mr. Patrick Aebischer, President of Swiss Federal Insititute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Mr. Ralph Eichler, President of ETH Zuerich and other members of the delegation.

During the meeting, President Pei Gang made a general introduction about Tongji University and its international cooperation, especially the cooperation of the platform colleges with the European countries. President Pei Gang expressed his wish to promote the cooperation with Switzerland, especially with EPFL and ETH Zuerich.

One day before, on April 21, President Aebischer had a strategic dialogue with President Pei Gang. Both sides reached the agreement to cooperate in fields of Life Science, Civil Engineering, Software Engineering and so on in the future and to send 50 exchange students to each other every year.
