The Symposium about the Interaction between Water Systems took place in Tongji

A symposium within the frame of the "Changjiang" Sino-German Project about the interaction between water systems was held in Tongji University from 28th to 30th. March 2011. 56 representatives attended the symposium, among them there are 26 from Germany. Prof. Yi Daqiang from College of Environmental Science and Engineering and Prof. Rolf-Dieter Wilken from IWW-Forschungsinstitut hosted the symposium together. Prof. Zhao Jianfu from Tongji University made a keynote lecture about the future prospects of cooperation between China and Germany. Mr. Zhou Wei, Deputy Director of the Three Gorges Project Construction Commission of the State Council, also made a keynote lecture about the water environment status in area of Three Gorges. During the symposium, representatives form 8 German universities and research institutions and 10 Chinese universities and research institutions made their own academic speeches which showed some achievement in the cooperation research project about the construction of a sustainable ecosystem in Three Gorges area.

After the symposium, the scientists from both sides discussed further over the questions about how to develop the cooperation researches and scientific exchange between the two countries and decided to hold the next symposium in Germany at the end of 2011.
