On Mar. 30th, the 2011 Meeting of Bayer-Tongji Chair for Sustainable Development was held in Tongji University. Dr. Wolfgang Plischke, the member of the Board of Management of Bayer AG, Mr. Michael Koenig, President of Bayer Group in Greater China, Ms. Celina Chew, Head of Legal Affairs, Prof. Wu Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University, Prof. Zhao Jianfu, Chair Professor of Bayer-Tongji SD Chair and Prof. Jiang Dahe of IESD attended the meeting.
The meeting was moderated by Prof. Zhao Jianfu. Firstly, Prof. Wu on behalf of IESD and Tongji University expressed his sincere thanks to Bayer’s consistent support and generous guidance. He briefly presented IESD annual report in 2010 and shared the upcoming activities in 2011. Then it was followed by a progress report on Bayer-Tongji SD Chair delivered by Prof. Zhao.
In the discussion part, Dr. Wolfgang Plischke and Mr. Michael Koenig emphasized the great importance of further strengthening the cooperation between IESD and Bayer and enhancing the reputation of Bayer-Tongji SD Chair. Prof. Zhao also stressed conducting the influential and sustainable project, and shared the ongoing program on Constructing Sustainable Development Zone in West China. Prof. Jiang made a positive comment on this project from the perspective of climate change. Dr. Wolfgang Plischke and Mr. Michael Koenig showed great interest in it and expressed the intention to join the program in a proper way. In addition, two parties reached the consensus to formulate the periodic working mechanism and hold more keynote lectures by Tongji professors or Bayer experts.
