On the afternoon of 22 March, the IBM Delegation led by Ms. Ginni Rometty, IBM SVP, visited Tongji University. President Pei Gang met with the delegation at Xuri Building. He firstly extended welcome to Mrs. Rometty for her second visit to Tongji and introduced the current development of Tongji. Professor Pei also expressed his opinion that the quick economic growth of China has greatly enhanced the education development. Tongji University shall take the opportunity to better cooperate with famous enterprises like IBM so as to improve its competitiveness as well as provide more intelligence resources to relative industries. Ms. Rometty stated IBM’s intention to work closely with Tongji in the research of Intelligent City, which can make great contribution to the better life of people. Professor Wu Zhiqiang, the Assistant President, introduced the delegation to the progress of Tongji-IBM Research Center of Intelligent City and current collaborative research projects. At last, both sides exchanged ideas on Baby Waston, the latest innovative product of IBM, the reform of digitized classes and the construction of intelligent city.

After the meeting, Ms. Rometty lectured on the topic of key lessons learned by IBM during the last century. More than 500 students and faculty attended the lecture. The lecture is one and the only one of the IBM's Centennial Lecture Series in Shanghai and it is also the 16th session of Tongji Global Vision Lectures.
