In order to implement ‘Excellent Engineers’, ‘Excellent Doctors’ and ‘Excellent Lawyers’ Programs, and to promote internationalization of undergraduate education, Tongji University initiated‘ modularization system’ in CDHAW , College of Civil Engineering, College of Ocean and Earth Science, College of Traffic and Transportation Engineering and College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

With the precondition that students take courses enough for graduation, the system divides some full-semester courses into two modules (9 weeks +9 weeks). By doing this, duration of semester corresponds with universities in other countries. Besides, it is more convenient for foreign teachers to have classes with the undergraduates, and for students from both sides to have some short-term visiting.
