Accompanied by Dr. Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Steven Chu, Secretary of the U. S. Department of Energy visited Tongji University and gave a lecture entitled “promoting innovation to meet energy and climate challenge” to the staff and students on Jiading Campus of Tongji University. In his speech, Dr. Steven Chu indicated that the United States and China should work together to enhance cooperation in new energy innovation in order to make great contributions to the whole world for a better future.

Before his speech, Secretary Chu paid a visit to Shanghai Automotive Wind Tunnel Center and New Energy Automotive Engineering Center, and a pictorial exhibition themed on “sustainability oriented university”. Prof. Zhou Jialun, Chairman of the University Council, President Pei Gang, Vice President Chen Xiaolong, Vice President Dong Qi and Prof. Yu Zhuoping, Assistant to the President received the whole delegation.
