On October 5th and 6th, President Pei Gang led a delegation to Darmstadt to participate into the celebration of 30th Anniversary of Tongji – TU Darmstadt partnership. The delegation members included Prof. Gao Tingyao, former President of Tongji University, Prof. Dr. Yu Zhuoping, Assistant to the President and Deans of Colleges of Tongji University.

The pictorial exhibition of “TU Darmstadt – Tongji University: History of a Partnership” which was held in the City Campus of TU Darmstadt on Oct 5th marked the opening of the celebration. The exhibition traced the history of the cooperation between two universities as well as some important cooperation projects in the past 30 years. The workshop in Lichtwiese Campus afterwards witnessed the thorough academic exchange between professors from Tongji University and TU Darmstadt when TU Darmstadt professors, including Prof. Heinelt from the Urban Research, Prof. Wagner from Water Processing Research, Prof. Rudolfph-Cleff from the Department of Architecture, Prof. Epple from the Energy Research, Prof. Winner from the Automotive Engineering, Prof. Phohl from the Logistics and Prof. Ruetzel from the Vocational Education, finished the introduction of their research focus. In the evening, President Pei Gang had an intensive discussion of enhancing the bilateral cooperation with President Proemel and Vice President Anderl of TU Darmstadt.

On October 6th, the celebration ceremony of 30th anniversary partnership was held in TU Darmstadt. President Proemel and President Pei Gang delivered a speech respectively. In the speeches, both sides recalled the 30-year cooperative relations and valued the other party as its one of the important strategic cooperative partner. On the ceremony President Proemel conferred the Honorary Senator Award of TU Darmstadt to Prof. Gao Tingyao for his great contributions to the development of cooperation between two parties. At the end of the ceremony, President Proemel and President Pei Gang signed a new bilateral cooperation agreement which aimed at building up the Tongji-TU Darmstadt sustainable network for cooperation. Agreement of “Double Doctor Degree” in Economics and Management and MOUs in the fields of Environment, Automotive Engineering, International Politics & EU Research and Vocational Education were signed by representatives of two universities.
