On May 11th, Vice President Chen Xiaolong met with the delegation of European Commission led by Mr. Koos Richelle, Director-General of Europe Aid Co-operation Office, and Mr. Johan Cauwenbergh, Minister Counsellor of EU Delegation in China.

Prof. Chen made a presentation of Tongji, especially the green campus and the participation of Solar Decathlon Competition to be held in June in Madrid, Spain, hoping that the EU would support Tongji for the Switch-Asia training program financed by EU and the project of Sino-European Intellectual Property Institute.

Mr. Koos said that Tongji is well known in Europe, EU and other developed countries will be responsible for the global challenges such as sustainable development, clean energy and climate change in the horizons of 2020. He emphasized that the developing countries should also assure their sustainable development by using modern technologies.

Both sides expressed their wish to develop exchange and cooperation for common interests.
