On the morning of April 30, Dr. Anna Tibaijuka, Deputy Secretary-General of United Nations and UN-HABITAT Executive Director, accepted the Honorary Professor Appointment Letter from Mr. Zhou JIalun, director of Tongji University Board, and became an honorary professor of our university. Dr. Tibaijuka was invited by Shanghai Municipal Government to attend the 2010 Shanghai Expo Opening Ceremony in the evening.

Dr. Tibaijuka said she was very pleased to become an “Honorary Professor of Tongji University”, and it was also her first time to be granted with a title of honorary professor by a Chinese university. She said that urban development drew increasing attention with the continuous development of global urbanization, and the Shanghai World Expo opening tonight was the first Expo centering on the “city” theme.
