Tongji achieved excellent result in US (International) Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling

Recently, US (International) Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) revealed the results, 5 teams (total 8 teams) from our university won the first prize, and two teams won second prize, which created the best record.

2010 MCM was held this February and attracted 2254 teams from colleges and institutes in China, US, Australia, Canada, Germany, Britain, Finland, and other 14 countries/areas. 2239 teams got successful entry. 19 percentages of the total teams won the first prize. Each team was made up of 3 members and one supervisor. They were required to accomplish the whole project from modeling, solving, and confirmation to thesis composition within 4 days.

It is learned that MCM was set up in 1985, which is the only international student mathematical contest in modeling covering large areas. Because of its challenge and fairness, the contest was popular among students from famous universities all over the world.
