On April 8, vice-president Dong Qi met with Prof. Roberto Schmid, president of Italian IUSS Higher Institute, and signed cooperation agreement on international dual master program for environmental assessment and integrated management in urban area.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their satisfaction of the project process, and congratulated success beforehand on environmental assessment and integrated management in urban area by right of 2010 Shanghai Expo and 2015 Italy Milan Expo. Vice-president Dong Qi hoped this project could become long-term cooperation between two universities, and expressed that this project would be combined with the ongoing “Outstanding Engineer Plan” by China Education Ministry and Tongji to cultivate high-level talents. Prof. Roberto Schmid appreciated Tongji’s long-term support on Sino-Italy education.
After the meeting, Italian guests and project leaders from College of Environmental Science and Engineering and College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji discussed details about the dual degree project and urban planning forum which would be held during the Expo.
It is learned that both sides will hold dual degree project inauguration ceremony on June 16 in Italy Pavilion on Shanghai Expo site.
