From March 23 to 30, Vice-President Dong Qi led a delegation to visit Munich, Brunswick, Berlin in Germany, and Milan, Trento in Italy.
During the stay in Germany, Prof. Dong and professors from Auto School, Institute of Railway & Urban Rail Transit and School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics, had in-depth discussion with Germany representatives about the establishment of International Graduate School “Sustainable Mobility”, in Technical University of Braunschweig. In Berlin, Prof. Dong met Prof. Steinbach, the new president of Technical University of Berlin, exchanged their views on enhancing cooperation between two universities, helping promote Tongji University’s ongoing engineering education reform, and double degree programs. In Munich, Prof. Dong met Prof. Meng Liqiu, vice-president of Technical University of Munich, and doctoral representatives who won funding from “Building High Level University” project of China Scholarship Council and now were studying in Munich University and Technical University of Munich.

During the visit in Italy, Prof. Dong discussed with president of Polytechnic University of Milan about undergraduate dual-degree project, student exchange and joint interdisciplinary executive training. Prof. Dong and the Educational Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Italy also visited Trento University and Confucius Institute in preparation. Prof. Dong got a brief on the Chinese courses set by the institute and expressed Tongji would give support to the Confucius Institute in future during the meeting with the president, vice president of international cooperation and vice-chairman of Trento.
