Tongji Forum Successfully Held in Berlin.
Sponsored by Federal Ministry of Science and Research in Germany (BMBF), co-hosted by Tongji University and Tongji Alumni Association in Germany (TAMD), Tongji Forum was successfully held in Berlin from Oct. 9 to 11, 2009. The Forum is also one of the programs of “Sino-German Science and Education Year” which is co-held by BMBF, Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE). The theme of Tongji Forum is focusing on three aspects. They are review of the cooperation between Tongji University and its German partners, analysis of the existing programs of scientific and education cooperation between Tongji University and Germany, and exploration of the sustainability and prospective of the cooperation.

Office of Federal President, Dr. Annette Schavan, Minister of BMBF and Prof. Wan Gang, Minister of MoST sent congratulatory letters to the Forum organization committee. More than 200 representatives from German higher education institutes, enterprises, political circle, Tongji University or members of Tongji Alumni Association in Germany participated in the Forum. President Pei Gang led a delegation including more than 20 professors from Tongji University to attend this forum. This was also the largest forum abroad hosted by Tongji University.
Tour Exhibition in Memory of the Centennial of Erich Paulun’s Death Held in Germany.
As part of important activities in the Sino-German Science and Education Year and Asia-Pacific Weeks Berlin, a tour exhibition in memory of 100th anniversary of Erich Paulun’s death which is co-hosted by Tongji University and Hanover Confucius Institute, was held in Germany. The Exhibition was held on Oct. 6th in the Berlin City Hall and then moved to Bonn and ended in Wolfenbuettel, home town of Paulun. The Exhibition won a good appraisal among the Chinese and foreign audiences. The outstanding contribution of Erich Paulun and the achievements that Tongji University has made in Sino-German cultural exchanges were highly appreciated.
