The first “2009 Bayer-Tongji-UNEP Sustainable Development Forum - Facing the Changing Climate” was held at Sino-French Centre in Tongji University on November 16. Over two hundred experts, scholars, government officials, entrepreneurs and professionals in the field of sustainable development attended the forum. Prof. Zhou Jialun, Chairman of Tongji University Council, Dr. Wolfgang Plischke, Member of the Board of Bayer AG and Ms. Dechen Tsering, Deputy Chief Representative of UNEP Asia-Pacific delivered welcome speeches.
The forum consisted of four panel discussions in which experts held fruitful discussions and actively interacted with the audience on four topics, including “Strategies of Asian and Pacific Cities in Mitigating and Adapting to Climate Change”, “Government Strategies and Policies in Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change in the Construction of an Ecological City in Shanghai and the greater Yangtze River Delta Region”, “Energy Efficiency of Green Construction” and “The Public’s Role in Combating Climate Changes”.
