On Nov. 5, Klaus Toepfer, Chief Professor of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), received the Honorary Citizenship Certificate and Medal from Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai. Han thanked Klaus Toepfer for his consistent contribution to Shanghai’s environmental protection and sustainable development. Professor Toepfer thanked Shanghai Government for giving him the great honor and confirmed to continually support the development of Shanghai.

Other people attending the ceremony included Li Mingjun, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Vice Consul General of German Consulate in Shanghai, Wu Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University and Li Fengting, Deputy Dean of IESD.
