October 20th, Chen Xiaolong, Vice-President of Tongji University met with the delegation of UPM (Madrid Polytechnic University), led by Prof. Angel Alvarez, Associate of Vice-Rector for International Relations of UPM.

First, Chen extended warm welcome to the UPM’s delegates for their visit to Tongji and sincere gratitude for their effort made for Tongji’s access to the Solar Decathlon Europe 2010, held in Madrid next year. Chen hopes that this competition could further enhance the bilateral cooperation and exchange activities between the two universities. Angel Alvarez emphasizes that Tongji has a lot in common with UPM, especially in the multi-disciplinary chains, social service, and international mobility. As the most important and the only partner university in Shanghai, Tongji will always be a significant part of UPM’s strategy, and UPM will offer help or advice if Tongji has any problems related to SDE 2010. After the meeting, Prof. Angel interviewed 10 students for the annual scholarship offered by UPM and the results will be declared on December 20th.
