Pei Gang Attended 4th Sino-German University Presidents’ Meeting

From October 5th to 7th, jointly hosted by Tongji University and Tuebingen University, Germany, the 4th Sino-German University Presidents’ Meeting was held in Tuebingen, a southern city of Germany. As two chairmen of this forum, Tongji University President Pei Gang and President of Tuebingen University presided over the meeting.

Principals of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology China, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, RWTH Aachen, Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University, University of Munich, TU Muenchen, Heidelberg University, Freiburg University and University of Karlsruhe attended the meeting. Education Department of Chinese Embassy in Germany, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC), DFG, DAAD, BMBF also sent representatives to the meeting. They exchanged views with university presidents about substantial cooperation between Chinese and German universities and educational exchange.

The conventioneers spoke highly of this Sino-German University Presidents’ Meeting as a communication platform, through which the two sides exchanged ideas about strategic and long-term cooperative plans and forms in educational field. Dual-degree programs, students exchange and cooperative research were focuses of this meeting. The two sides discussed legal and procedural issues of curriculum provision and recognition of qualifications for the dual-degree programs.

During the meeting, Pei Gang held talks with secretary-general of DAAD, President of RWTH Aachen, President of Karlsruhe University and secretary-general of TU9 respectively.
