On September 22nd, the University President Pei Gang met with Profumo, President of Turin Polytechnic University and his delegation. Pei introduced the reform of engineers’ training mode and “4+2” educational reform of Chinese Ministry of Education, which was a developing direction to give full play to Tongji’s advantages of predominant engineering disciplines and international cooperation in education, as well as a significant measure to promote the undergraduate dual-degree program of Sino-Italian College and to attract more cooperation programs between China and Italy.

Since the mechanical engineering undergraduate and information technology engineering undergraduate double-degree programs and the industrial design master double-degree program jointly held by Tongji and Polytechnic University of Milan were developing smoothly, Profumo expressed that Turin Polytechnic University would coordinate actively with Tongji to include the “4+2” educational reform into the second developing phase of Sino-Italian College. Besides, Profumo himself would lead the relevant college and departments to carry out the reform program.
The two sides also exchanged views about Shanghai International Design Center-Italian Design Creation Mall Project, cooperation in the fields of automobile and jewelry design, and the participation of government and enterprises of Piemonte Region. They agreed to start the cooperative cultivating projects between the Colleges of Automotive Engineering and Design of the two universities as soon as possible.
