As an important part of the onlyurban rail transit integrative test systemin China, constructed by Tongji University, a thousand-meter-long rail transit test line was opened in Jiading Campus. And a train with two coaches ran on the test line.

Wan Gang, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Minister of Science and Technology, Shen Xiaoming, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai and Lin Huiqing, the Assistant Education Minister, Wu Qidi, member of the NPC Standing Committee and former Minister of Education, Zhou Jialun, Secretary of the University Party committee and the University President Pei Gang attended the opening ceremony of the test line and took the test train.

The urban rail transit integrative test system constructed by Tongji included a 2.1-kilometer test line, a test vehicle and a comprehensive laboratory. It was known that, the first A model subway vehicle, jointly developed by Tongji and Shanghai Electric Group, had been produced. This text line would undertake all running tests of the A model subway vehicle.
