On the afternoon of September 15th, Prof. Bernard Gwertzman, online editor of New York Times gave an academic report titledAmerican Media’s Influence on American Foreign Policiesin Tongji University.
Prof. Bernard Gwertzman expounded deeply and frankly the American media’s influence on American foreign policies and proposed his own opinions from the angle of an American scholar. First he pointed out the media’s noticeable influence on American foreign policies from a macro perspective, especially after the new media became an important channel to acquire informations in the past few years. Then, he analyzed some problems in the reports about Iraq War and Afghanistan War with specific examples from a micro perspective. Finally, he discussed the similarities and differences between media’s influence on Chinese foreign policies and that of American. Lots of students and teachers asked questions, and Prof. Bernard Gwertzman answered them one by one.
