On the morning of September 11th, Zhou Jialun, Director of the University Administration Committee and secretary of the University Party committee met with African Union Chairman Jean Ping and his delegation. Zhang Ming, director-general of Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Ding Jiemin, assistant principal of Tongji University, relevant experts and professors in Foreign Affairs Office and Architectural Design Institute attended the meeting.
Zhou Jialun welcomed the delegation and introduced the University’s cooperation with Africa. Principal of Architectural Design Institute introduced the design work of Shanghai world Expo venues Tongji has participated, especially the African Pavilion. He also broadcasted a short film about the designing of AU Conference Center. Jean Ping expressed thanks for the warm reception and spoke highly of thedesign proposalof AU Conference Center by the University. He wished to continue the effective bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two sides.
