On August 28th, during the 1stTongji International Cultural Day, a series of wonderful activities were held. Tongji International Students Preparatory Department was set up. International Chinese Culture Communication and Exchange Forum was opened and Final of the 3rdJapanese Adolescents Singing Contest was held on the same day.
Tongji International Students Preparatory Department under the Ministry of Education was unveiled at the new building of International Cultural Exchange School. Zhou Jialun, Secretary of the University Party committee addressed the ceremony. The University Vice-President Chen Xiaolong delivered the key of the new building to Cai Jianguo, Dean of International Cultural Exchange School. University Vice-President Wu Jiang, leaders of relevant Shanghai government departments and representatives of universities attended the ceremony, presided over by University Vice-President Dong Qi.
In the afternoon, International Chinese Culture Communication and Exchange Forum was held in the auditorium of International Cultural Exchange School. Sheng Jianxue, Chief of International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, Ministry of Education, Yang Jincheng, Director ofTeachers' Qualification Section, Office of Chinese Language Council International (OCLCI) and Qiu Zhenhai, famous host of Hong Kong TV made special reports.
In the evening, Final of the 3rdJapanese Adolescents Singing Contest hosted by OCLCI, Confucius Institute of Obirin University and Tongji International Cultural Exchange School was held in 1.29 Assembly Hall. Zhou Jialun made welcome address the contest. Li Dongxiang, counselor of Confucius Institute, OCLCI, and former Chief of International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, Ministry of Education, Dong Qi, Tetsuya Ishii, Vice Consul General of Japan in Shanghai and Akimasa Mitsuta, Head of Confucius Institute, Obirin University attended the ceremony. The native pronunciation, beautiful timbre and diversified performance won warm applause from the audience. Two first prizes, three second prizes and five third prizes winners were chosen in the contest.
