On August 10th, theSouth-SouthTechnology Property Right ExchangeProgram recommendation conference was held in UN headquarters by UNDP. On behalf of Ban Ki-moon, the UN Deputy Secretary-General addressed the conference. Chinese minister in UN extended congratulations. Prof. Wu Zhiqiang, general planner of Shanghai World Expo, principal assistant of Tongji University and dean of College of Creative Design introducedGlobal Creative Economic Cityplanning program on behalf of Yangpu District. This plan aroused wide interests and positive responses of representatives from US, Japan and some developing countries. The UN Deputy Secretary-General Gambari highly praised the plan as an interaction model for three districts helpful for successful transformation of Yangpu District, an innovation in developing countries’ developmental pattern, and a special contribution of Chinese government during the global economic crisis.
Before the conference, Prof. Wu visited the UN Deputy Secretary-General Sha Zukang and Zhou Yiping, Chief of the UNDP Special Unit for South-South Cooperation (SUSSC). It was reported that Zhou Yiping would accept the appointment letter as adviser for Tongji College of Creative Design next semester upon Wu’s invitation.
