From May 18th to 21st, the University President Pei Gang visited Italy. After made a keynote speech at G8 University Summit, Pei visited Politecnico Di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, FIAT Group, Bertone Auto Design Company and other Italian enterprises. This visiting laid solid foundation for developing cooperation with Italian side in the fields of designing and automotive engineering.

On May 19th, Pei Gang signed the agreement for setting up a Tongji campus in Politecnico Di Torino with Profumo, President of Politecnico Di Torino, and unveiled the first Tongji campus in Europe.

On May 20th, Pei Gang visited the headquarters of FIAT Group in Turin and met FIAT Executive Vice-President and Deputy Director of Human Resources. The two sides hoped to develop diversified forms of cooperation in automotive engineering research and personnel training. At last the two parties signed Memorandum of Strategic Partnership.

On the afternoon of May 20th, Pei Gang came to the foot of the Alps. Ms. Bertone, Vice-President of Bertone Auto Design Company, the CEO Mr. Gaudio and its core design team warmly welcomed Tongji delegation. The two sides agreed to develop cooperation on auto design and auto research.

On the evening of May 20th, Pei Gang went to Politecnico di Milano and exchanged ideas with the President Prof. Giulio Ballio and professors of Architectural and Designing College about cooperation in the fields of fashion and jewelry design.

The two parties agreed to put fashion design, jewelry design and yacht design as focuses of the future cooperation on the basis of the established industrial designing double master degree project.
