On the occasion of Wenchuan earthquake anniversary, Tongji University held a symposium to review and summarize Tongji faculty and students’ intellectual support for earthquake relief and reconstruction work as well as discussed the key emphasis in next work.

The University Executive Vice-President Li Yongsheng introduced the earthquake relief and reconstruction work the University faculty and students had done in the past year. Lin Chuan, earthquake combating hero and Chief of Beichuan County Cultural and Travel Bureau introduced the general situation of post-quake restoration and reconstruction. He also expressed sincere thanks to Tongji faculty and students for their active support.

After the symposium, as principals of their projects, Wu Changfu, Xia Nankai, Zhou Weimin, He Minjuan and Lou Menglin introduced the design ideals, achievements and latest developments of the 5 projects including Beichuan Earthquake Museum, Dujiang Weir reconstruction plan, guide rules formulation of elementary and secondary schools post-quake construction, Xiang’e Primary School construction and earthquake damage investigation. These projects were not only reflections of Tongji faculty and students’ support for earthquake relief and reconstruction, but also an embodiment of Tongji’s sense of responsibility in front of disasters.
