On the afternoon of April 24th, Prof. Chen Wei from Northwestern University USA (UNW) gave an academic report titled Research in Engineering Design: Status and Promises to over 120 students and faculty of Tongji Mechanical College, Automotive College, Telecommunication College and Railway Transportation College during his visiting of Tongji upon invitation.

In Prof. Chen’s report, he introduced his advanced design theories and optimization problems in the field of mechanical manufacturing. He also illustrated in detail the research background, prospect, main contents, approaches, and difficulties in this field. After the meeting, Prof. Chen attended the doctoral academic saloon in College of Mechanical Engineering.
