Prof. Chang Qing Elected as Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects

On January 28th, reporter of the university news center learned that Prof Chang Qing of Tongji Architecture and Urban Planning College, was elected as the Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. This was the highest honor US award the foreign professionals for their outstanding contribution in the field of architecture.

The reporter saw 9 foreigners on the official website of the American Institute of Architects (www.aia.org/aiarchitect.) and Prof. Chang Qing ranked first in the list. The other 8 foreigners came from Chile (2), Holland (2), Sri Lanka, Italy and Philippines.

Mr. Marvin Malecha, President of the American Institute of Architects wrote a congratulatory letter to Prof. Chang Qing and invited him to the awarding ceremony on the afternoon of May 1st in San Francisco. It was revealed in the letter that the American Institute of Architects would hold an international press conference on February 2nd to announce the election result and introduce the achievements of these winners.

It was known that from 1980s, Prof. Feng Jizhong, Prof. Luo Xiaowei, and Prof. Zheng Shiling of our

university received this honor in succession.
