On the afternoon of December 9th, Dr. Hermann Scheer was appointed as honorary professor and honorary dean of Academy ofEuropeanCultures. The engage ceremony as well as academic report was held in conference hall of Yifu Building. Academician Pei Gang, the University President addressed at the ceremony and conferred the certificates on Mr. Scheer, and then Mr. Scheer gave a short speech. Prof. Sun Zhouxing, Dean ofCollegeof humanities and Social Science presided over the ceremony. Prof. Gao Xuanyang, Dean of Academy ofEuropeanCultures and some teachers and students majoring in the related subjects attended the ceremony. At last, Mr. Scheer made an academic report titledSunshine Economy and Global Energy Conversion.
Hermann Scheer (1944-), German economist and politician, was the incumbent German bundestagsabgeordnete and Chairperson of Europe SolarAssociation. In 1999,Mr. Scheer was awarded a special Nobel Prize for his great contribution in the field of environment protection. In 2000, he was awarded the world Bio-energy Prize and in 2004, the World Wind Energy Prize.
It was reported that, Tongji University Press would publishEnergy Autonomy, a book written by Dr. Hermann Scheer in the beginning of 2009.
