On the morning of September 27th, Professor Wolfgang Massberg, German coordinator of mechanical and automobile engineering in Sino-German College (CDHK), accepted the medal of Friendship Award from Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang, a member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee at the Great Hall of the People and was one of 50 foreign experts given this award.

Professor Wolfgang Massberg, a worldly well-known mechanical expert, possessed of very rich experience in organizing and leading scientific research in Germany’s sizeable enterprises and was ever President of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Chairman of German Academy for Production Engineering and so forth.
Since our preparation for building CDHK, Professor Massberg did all he could to push forward the project of cultural exchange between Chinese and German governments to a success step by step and made a great contribution to the subsidization and establishment of 28 fund Chair Professorships.
Before, three professors recommended by our university had been given this award in 1996, 1999 and 2007 respectively, who were Professor H. J. Poepel from College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Professor Horst Sund from CDHK and Professor Klaus Toepfer from Tongji-UN School of Environment and Sustainable development.
