Wang Pinxian, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor from School of Ocean and Geoscience, was conferred Asian Marine Geology Award by the sixth Asian Marine Geology conference recently in order to commend his prominent contributions to the study of Asian Marine Geology and the international cooperation and exchanges.

The awarding ceremony was held in Kochi County of Japan, at which Prof. Wang Pinxian delivered a speech “The past two decades of Asian Marine Geology”. Asian Marine Geology Award was first set by this convention in order to commend the scientists who gained great outstanding achievements in the study of Asian marine geology. Wang Pinxian is the first winner of it.
