Recently the award convention and works exhibition of “Cities Beyond Oil” concept design contest were held in Tongji University. There are altogether 12 student groups from the Royal University of Fine Arts (KKH), Chalmers University of Technology, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), University of Gothenburg, Tongji University, Harbin Institute of Technology, South China University of Technology and Fudan University. They submitted their respective design projects and made a complete exhibition and exchange at the convention.
At the convention, those who were invited to be contest examiners were Lars Reutersward, director of the Shelter and Sustainable Human Settlements Development Division of the UN, Ms. Elisabet Falemo, the Swedish secretary of State Ministry of Environment, Prof. Lars Ivarsson, dean of Department of Architecture and Planning of University of Gothenburg, Prof. Björn Harsman, director of Department of Urban Planning and Environment of KTH, Prof. Sara Grahn from Department of Architecture of KTH, Wu Jiang, deputy director general of Shanghai Urban Planning Administration Bureau, Zhu Ruolin, deputy director of Shanghai Pudong New Area Reform and Development Commission, Wu Zhiqiang, dean of College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University, Prof. Sun Yimin, deputy dean of School of Architecture of South China University of Technology, and Prof. Leng Hong, deputy director of Department of Urban Planning of Harbin Institute of Technology.
After a heated discussion, 3 optimal design awards and 5 special design awards were chosen. The three projects winning the optimal design awards were Syn City from KKH, Cities beyond oil from UPD group of KTH, and Urban spring & Urban circuit from Harbin Institute of Technology. The five projects winning the special design awards were Energy-picking city from South China University of Technology, Future Water City from Tongji University, Autonomous global Gothenburg from Charmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg, Green city beyond oil from South China University of Technology, and Urban Forest from Tongji University.
