“Trans Local Motion” International Students’ Exhibition of 2008 Shanghai Biennale Undertaken by Tong

On September 9th, international Students’ exhibition of Shanghai Biennale opened, which was hosted by the organizing committee of Shanghai Biennale, undertaken by College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) of Tongji University, co-organized by KIV. Those, who presented themselves at the opening ceremony, addressed it and awarded the winners, included Pei Gang, president of Tongji University, Chen Anjie, secretary of CCP in Yangpu District, Xu Chengxin, executive director of Shui On Land Limited, Zhang Qing, general curator of Shanghai Biennale, Yrjo Sotamaa, president of University of Art & Design Helsinki and honorary president of CUMULUS and so on.

International Students’ exhibition has always been one of major art activities of Shanghai Biennale. This exhibition with the theme of “Trans Local Motion” reflected the phenomenon of urbanization in the modern world and gave attention to the conditions of urban survival and development, in which more than 40 institutes of design participated. They were from China, France, Britain, America, Holland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, etc..

This students’ exhibition generates 19 awards including gold prize, silver prizes, bronze prizes and honorable mentions. The gold prized was won by “Trans Local Motion Shanghai Streets” created by 2008 CAUP international design summer camp of Tongji University. Besides, the optimal innovation award set by the co-organizer KIV was won by “Fast-Nest Ants” accomplished by Gao Shanshan, Han Wenwen, Hand Dong from Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University.
