On September 3rd, President of Tongji University Pei Gang kindly met Peer Steinbrück, minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his staff at Chinese-German College (CDHK).

President Pei first warmly welcomed Minister Peer Steinbrück’s visit, and briefly introduced the general situation of Tongji University and the cooperative tradition between Tongji University and Germany. Minister Peer Steinbrück said that he had well learned the friendly relationship between Tongji University and Germany and he was very happy to visit Tongji University after German President Horst Köhler’s visit last year. Thomas Zimmer, deputy dean of CDHK, made an introduction of the history and characteristics of CDHK, the experience of cooperation between schools and enterprises, and prospect of the future development. The delegates highly praised the pattern of CDHK and discussed with Chinese party about composition of outlay, preconditions of enrolling students, the differences between CDHK and other routine colleges, and so on.

After the meeting, the delegacy visited the Infineon laboratory and the language laboratory at CDHK and they were amazed at the students’ fluent German and standout ability of scientific research.

Those who were present at the meeting and accompanied the visit also included Yang Shaolin, deputy dean of International Exchange Department of Ministry of Finance, Chen Xiaolong, vice-president of Tongji University, Dong Qi and Yu Zhuoping, assistant-presidents, and relative experts and professors from CDHK, Chinese-German University of Applied Sciences(CDHAW), College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP).
