Nobel Prize Winner in Physiology or Medicine Gave Lectures in Tongji as Honorary Professor

Nearly a month after the famous theoretical physicist-Prof. Yang Zhenning’s lecture, another Nobel Prize winner was invited to Tongji rostrum and he was the eighth Nobel Prize winner who had been to Tongji in the last three years. On the afternoon of June 13th, Dr. Andrew V. Schally, the Nobel Prize winner in physiology or medicine in 1977 and famous urologic oncologist from the American Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center, gave a special academic lecture about using polypeptide hormones in tumor therapy to teachers and students in Medical College and College of Life Science and Technology of the University at Yifu Building.

Meanwhile, Dr. Schally was offered appointment as an honorary professor of Tongji. The University Executive Vice-President Li Yongsheng awarded the certificate and school badge for him.

Although in his eighties, Dr. Schally kept standing to finish his lecture and was vigorous. After the lecture, Dr. Schally communicated with the teachers and students present for half an hour. He said that choosing to become a doctor was not only for the advantages of salary and social status, but also for the healthy of the patients and so you must make progress in the academic field.
